Register for the academic year 2023-2024 by 10 August 2023

Registration for the academic year and Student Union membership fee

Register for the academic year 2023-2024 in the OILI service. You need a Uniarts Helsinki username and password to register.

If you are a bachelor’s or a master’s student, you must pay the student union membership fee in connection with the registration. Doctoral students are free to choose whether they want to pay the fee and gain membership in the student union.

You can check the amount of the membership fee on the Student Union website. In case you cannot register in OILI, you can use a registration form and deliver it with the student union fee payment receipts to your own academy by encrypted email.

You can complete studies only as an attending student. You must register as an attending or a non-attending student also for the academic term when you are graduating. You may register for non-attendance and still graduate only if you have completed all the studies required for your degree and submitted your thesis project for examination during the previous academic term. If you are planning to complete exchange studies or a traineeship abroad, you must register as an attending student.

More information about the registration can be found at https://student.uniarts.fi/guides/registration-for-the-academic-year/, on the Student Union web pages and by email from our own academy:

Please note you cannot register in OILI if you have to pay the Uniarts tuition fee.

Please check also that your information is up to date in Peppi.

FSHS health care fee

The health care fee for higher education students is paid to Kela. No bill will be sent for on the healthcare fee and thus you have to pay the fee on your own initiative. More information on the practical details in connection with the payment of the fee is be provided on the Kela’s website.

You do not have to pay the healthcare fee if you have social security coverage from another EU/EEA country or from Switzerland or the United Kingdom. Even if you do not have to pay the fee, you can still use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service. Do you need an extended residence permit in Finland? Start well in advance!

Apply for an extended residence permit if your studies continue but the validity of your residence permit is about to expire. Apply for an extended permit before your previous residence permit expires. Migri doesn’t recommend that you apply for an extended permit earlier than three months before the expiry date of your residence permit. If you apply earlier, they may not necessarily be able to assess whether you meet the requirements for an extended permit and may be unable to grant the permit. Do not apply for an extended permit before you have completed the necessary ECTS credits.

Please find Migri’s instructions on their web pages: https://migri.fi/en/application-for-an-extended-permit-on-the-basis-of-studies. You can download necessary study certificates for Migri in Peppi https://student.peppi.uniarts.fi/group/pakki (choose Certificates of studies).
