Orientation studies at the Academy of Fine Arts for BA students
Orientation studies (2 cr) are a mandatory part of core studies for a bachelor’s degree, and they are completed right in the beginning of studies.
The purpose of orientation is to provide new students with tools that they need in their studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and to introduce them to the university community. Orientation begins during the first week and continues later during the autumn term.
Orientation will be organised through hybrid means in August 2022. We hope that you can come and get to know the academy’s facilities and other new students in person.
Orientation starts on 22 August 2022
The orientation studies for all new Academy of Fine Arts students start on Monday, 22 August 2022. The joint orientation day for all new students at Uniarts Helsinki takes place on Friday, 26 August 2022.
On Wednesday 24 August (at 11.00 at K-218) new students in the Degree Programme in Fine Arts also start their joint introduction course (named Mylly), which lasts the whole autumn term. Students choose their personal subject areas (painting, sculpture, printmaking or time and space arts) in December and start their subject area studies in January 2023.
Orientation at the Academy of Fine Arts is organised in Finnish and English.
