Association of Finnish Symphony Orchestras & Sibelius Academy Joint Symposium 12.1.2026
This is an absolutely unique chance to learn about the Finnish orchestra field and network with potential employers.
The Association of Finnish Symphony Orchestras and the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki are organizing a joint symposium on orchestral training and work life in January 2026.
The aim of the event is to deepen cooperation and build bridges between the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and employers in the Finnish orchestra field.
The event is aimed at orchestra representatives as well as students and staff of the Sibelius Academy. The event is free of charge.
If you take part in the full program (both events for 12.1. listed below), you will earn 0,5 study credits with the code S-IOP19_24_S25K26. If you want to receive 0,5 credits for event participation, you have to get your name registered with the representative of each orchestra during the presentation in the R-concert hall lobby.
SYMPOSIUM SCHEDULE

- 12.00–14.30 The changing future of work life in the orchestra field – presentation, panel discussion, group work (in Finnish/English, English translation available) / R-building concert hall
Presenter: Anna Jaskiewicz, II manager, Tapiola Sinfonietta - 14.30–15.30 Afternoon coffee / Cafe Feeniks, R-building (offered by the Sibelius Academy)
- 15.30–18.00 Finnish Orchestras – Employer’s presentation for students and staff of the Sibelius Academy (in English) / R-building concert hall and lobby
Presenters: Nikke Isomöttönen, Chief Executive, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Iiris Lehtonen, Executive Director, Association of Finnish Symphony Orchestras
Each participating orchestra will be allocated its own presentation desk in the lobby, where a representative of the orchestra is available to talk to participants.
