Call for applications: Erasmus BIP on the musical dimensions of intangible cultural heritage
Uniarts Helsinki invites students to apply for an Erasmus Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) focusing on the musical dimensions of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). The programme will take place 18–22 May 2025 in Riga, hosted by the Latvian Academy of Music.
The BIP is organised in collaboration with ethnomusicology and musicology teachers and students from the universities of Aveiro, Linnaeus (Växjö), Pavia (Cremona), and Salamanca. The programme is research-oriented.
The project consists of two parts
- Two online meetings in April (tentatively on 21 and 28 April 2025), during which the final content of the programme will be discussed.
- An on-site intensive programme in Riga, including lectures, discussions, music-making workshops, and possibly a short fieldwork exercise.
Uniarts Helsinki offers Erasmus exchange funding for at least five Uniarts students to participate in the programme. The opportunity is open to all Uniarts students regardless of their level or stage of studies or place of residence. At least two places are still available.
Interested students are encouraged to contact Professor Antti-Ville Villén and submit a one-page (max. 600 words) letter of motivation explaining:
- how the topic supports their studies and/or research interests
- what they expect to gain from participating in the BIP
Please note that this is a research-oriented programme, requiring full commitment to both the online and on-site components.
Letters of motivation must be submitted no later than 13 February 2025.
For questions or uncertainties, students are welcome to contact Prof. Villén directly. In case of scheduling conflicts with other teaching, students should consult their other teachers in advance.
