Students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at the Academy of Fine Arts, Sibelius Academy or Theatre Academy – would you like the chance to give your thesis project undivided attention? Are you looking for a working space in a peaceful environment? Do you want to perform but lack a venue for it? Apply for a residency at Uniarts Helsinki’s Seinäjoki unit!
About the residency
During the residency, the artist-student gets to fully focus on their new or ongoing project or artistic work. The student selected for the residency will be paid for travel (with public transport) and accommodation (provided by Osuuskunta Nostates, in the Piiri area) in Seinäjoki. There are three possible residency periods to choose from.
Dates of the residency periods
- 1-14 June 2026 (weeks 23 and 24)
- 31 August – 13 September 2026 (weeks 36 and 37)
- 2-15 September 2026 (weeks 45 and 46)
The duration of the residency can be 7–14 days. In your application, please tell us how many days you would like your residency to last.
The residency period also includes a grant of 600 euros, which can be used for purchases that support your work. If there are several artists participating in the same residency period, the grant will be divided among the entire group. The facilities can accommodate a maximum of four people. The artist will have access to a working space in the premises of Osuuskunta Nostates in the Piiri area, where it is also possible to stay overnight. Accommodation is in a shared room, and there are two rooms in use. Other facilities will be acquired for the artist’s use as needed. These details will be agreed on before the residency period.
In addition, the artist has the opportunity to do community engagement work at Kalevan Navetta. This work can entail things like open rehearsals, a small lecture, a socially engaged work of art or a workshop.
