Register for the conferment dinner – registration deadline is 16 June 2024

Uniarts Helsinki will organise a conferment event for masters and doctors on 16–18 August 2024. The conferment festivities are a celebration of art itself as well as education and research in the arts, and we are proud of this field and want it to be seen and heard in society now and in the future.

Register for the conferment dinner

Staff and students of Uniarts Helsinki have the chance to participate in the conferment weekend’s festivities as an audience member. The day of the conferment ceremony will culminate in a festive and dignified dinner at the Old Student House. Seats at the dinner have also been reserved for staff and students. The price of the dinner is €120.

Registration for the dinner will end on 16 June, and seating is limited.

Dress code for the conferment dinner

Due to the festive nature of the conferment event, staff members and students, too, are required to dress according to the conferment dress code. Check the dress code for the conferment events.

Celebration of the arts 

Helsinki Music Centre

The event is open to the general public and kicks off the programme for the university’s conferment weekend by presenting the range of artistic skills of the Uniarts Helsinki community. The Concert Hall of the Helsinki Music Centre will serve as the venue for university students’ production that is a captivating music experience combining various fields of art. The price of the ticket also includes admission to see the programme in the foyer facilities and at the terrace after the performance in the Concert Hall. Read the programme on our website.

Conferment ceremony

The conferment ceremony is the most important event of all the conferment festivities. Graduates are conferred their academic degrees in the ceremony, which is also called the conferment act. After the official conferment, masters receive laurel wreaths and doctors receive doctoral hats.

The registration deadline is 9 August 2024.

Procession

Departure from the Helsinki Music Centre

The festive procession travels through the Helsinki city centre and then splits into two groups, one going to the ecumenical jubilee in the Temppeliaukio Church and the other to the secular jubilee at Kulttuurikasarmi. The stately black and white processions are of the most visually striking moments of the conferment festivities, gathering the graduates’ family and friends and curious passers-by near the Helsinki Music Centre to observe the scene. There will also be a range of artistic performances happening on the route of the procession.

Ecumenical jubilee

Temppeliaukio Church

The ecumenical jubilee (special church service) will be held after the conferment ceremony simultaneously with the secular jubilee. Participants in the event will make their way from the conferment ceremony in a procession.

Secular jubilee

Participation in the event is limited only to conferment graduates and their companions due to limited space.
