Restrictions on access rights for fine arts students exceeding the targeted years of study
From now on, students who have exceeded the target duration for their bachelor’s or master’s studies must submit a written application to extend their access rights to workspaces and equipment.
At the Academy of Fine Arts, we have clarified the guidelines concerning workspace and other access rights for students in the fine arts study programme who have exceeded the target duration. Students delayed in completing their bachelor’s or master’s degree will no longer automatically retain rights to a personal workspace, grants, or access to workshops, studios, and facilities, nor to the academy’s equipment and tools. These rights must be requested in writing and may be granted for a fixed period.
In your application, you must explain how restoring these rights would support your studies according to your personal study plan (HOPS) so that you can graduate. For bachelor’s students, the guideline applies to those who do not graduate within their fourth year of study. Workspace extensions are granted one semester at a time, but not in the middle of a semester.
In the fine arts study programme, the target duration is:
- 3.5 years for the bachelor’s degree
- 5.5 years for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees
- 2 years for the master’s degree only
Further information on study rights and target durations for students can be found at students’ uniarts website.
Participation in the bachelor’s exhibition and Kuvan Kevät is possible within the target duration. If you wish to postpone your participation by one year, you must apply for permission in writing and justify your request.
