When using email lists, it is important to consider the right of all recipients to a safe learning and working environment
The global political situation is escalating, and military actions both in the Middle East and Ukraine are claiming far too many victims at the moment. Many students and staff members at Uniarts Helsinki have loved ones who suffer from the war – on various sides of the political divide. Regardless of which side of the conflict people’s loved ones are, sadness and distress over them is justified.
“It’s important that we work together to make sure that everyone can find Uniarts Helsinki a safe environment, regardless of what each person’s personal background and relationship to these crises is,” says Rector Kaarlo Hildén.
University is a non-religious and non-political organisation
The university has become aware that Uniarts email lists have been used to distribute political appeals. The right of the entire community to a safe learning and working environment has not been realised in these situations. It is important to remember that the university is a non-religious and non-political organisation, and the use of email lists for political activities is only permitted in university elections and in the activities of student organisations related to the student union or in trade union activities.
In accordance with the university’s code of conduct, it is the responsibility of each member of the community to contribute to the creation of a safe learning and working environment.
