Arrival and accommodation
You can get to the teaching centre by car, bus or train. The nearest train station is located in Ainola, from where you can walk to the destination in about 25 minutes. The nearest bus stop, called Kallio-Kuninkala, is located at the intersection of Ristinummentie. The address of Kunkkula is Ristinummentie 6, 04400 Järvenpää.
When arriving at Kallio-Kuninkala, each student first visits the dining room of the main building and writes down their name and phone number on a specific form, depending on the room they choose. The forms are available on top of a sideboard. It is not possible to change rooms during the teaching period. Two keys are available for each building on top of the sideboard.
There are sheets for each guest and a towel on top of each guest’s bed.
During the visit
Smoking is only allowed outdoors in designated areas.
All people who are staying in the building are collectively responsible for the cleanliness of the shared spaces, such as the living room of Metsä-Kuninkala.
If there is nobody else in the accommodation building during the visit, the last person to leave the space must lock the doors of the building and always make sure that the windows are closed. That means that the facilities must always be locked when there is nobody present.
Take good care of your key. If you need a door opened outside regular opening hours (if you have forgotten a key inside the building, for example), the door opening service costs €100 on weekday evenings and €200 on weekends. This amount will be invoiced directly to the students. If the key is lost, the user of the key will be charged for a new set of locks and key. The total cost of this purchase and installation is €400.
You are not allowed to consume your own alcoholic beverages in the licenced areas! The licenced areas in Kallio-Kuninkala are the ground floor of the main building, the terrace and the yard area in connection with it, the upper floor and ground floor of the Barn and the yard area in connection with it, as well as the meeting room in Ala-Kuninkala and the yard area in connection with it.
At the end of your visit
After the stay, guests must remove their own bed linen and towels and take them to the designated spot in the same building. Guests must also take away garbage and return bottles to the designated places. Pieces of furniture must be moved where they originally were if they were moved during the visit.
After the visit, return all keys to the place that was agreed with the Kallio-Kuninkala staff at the start of the visit.
Use of saunas
The use of the lakeside sauna and the sauna in the Barn is possible only if there is a designated person in charge for the reservation (a supervisor or a teacher for Junior Academy teaching visits) and the Kallio-Kuninkala staff have their phone number. The key to the sauna can be picked up from the Kallio-Kuninkala staff when booking. Sauna is heated as a self-service.
Leave the sauna in the same condition that it was before you used it. When leaving, close the windows, lock the door and then return the key to the Kallio-Kuninkala staff no later than the next day.
The sauna of the accommodation building Metsä-Kuninkala can be used without a reservation. When using the sauna, visitors must still make sure that the sauna is switched off after use and that the space is tidied up to look the same as it was before. Using the sauna in Metsä-Kuninkala must not disturb fellow guests. A designated person in charge must supervise the use of the sauna for Junior Academy teaching visits.
Please always consider the safety of all people in the sauna!
