Apply for optional studies and Open University courses that are arranged in the autumn
There are still courses in the optional studies that you can register for. Below you will find a selection of the courses still available and information on the Open University’s autumn application.

SAMA
You can now register for the Common Studies in Sound Arts (SAMA) courses! The SAMA courses will allow you to develop a wide range of skills in the field of Sound art. All SAMA courses can be taken as freestanding optional studies. Courses marked as obligatory in the module structure are only obligatory for students completing the full SAMA module. Working life studies
A new course on time management and well-being will be offered in the autumn. Working life studies also include courses on the future of the artist’s work, courses in English on artificial intelligence and collaborative art, and online courses on copyright and other topics. The Seinäjoki unit will host an inter-arts networking and inspiration course, Tunnekko. The working life studies Open University courses also have quota places for degree students as a rule.

Language and communication studies
Apply for the KiViTa networks language and communication courses by 11 August 2024! KiViTa offers Uniarts Helsinki students a course tray for languages and communication from all universities in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The courses are mainly implemented flexibly as distance and online studies.
Uniarts Helsinki will open free-choice studies and courses that can be used as compulsory language and communications studies in the KiViTa offering in autumn 2024. Uniarts students can register for these courses in Studyinfo.
New language courses offered by Uniarts Helsinki include the advanced course Italian 3 and introductory courses Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. The entire course offering for autumn 2024 can be found on KiViTa’s course offering page.
The selection of students for courses is made in the order of registration. Registration for autumn courses ends on 11 August 2024 for the most courses. Read the registration instructions on KiViTa’s website

Open University
The Open University’s selection of studies during the autumn will be published on 28 May 2024 (courses arranged by Open University) and 11 June 2024 (integrated courses). The application period for the autumn courses will begin on 6 August 2024 and end on 19 August (integrated courses) or 22 August 2024 (courses arranged by the Open University).
Some of the Open University courses have set quotas for degree students who can participate in the courses free of charge. More detailed information on the course selection and requirements for quota spots are presented in the Study Guide.
As for other Open University courses at Uniarts Helsinki, degree students who have registered for attendance are eligible for a 50 % discount on the course fee. The discount does not apply to teaching provided by partner institutions (summer universities, folk high schools). Browse the course selection.
