Data protection deviation in University’s Study Guide has been fixed

On 8 September 2025, a data protection deviation was detected in the electronic Study Guide, which concerned a small part of the students’ personal data: first and last name, University email address, and in some cases the study right number. Separate effort would have been required to find the information, and the data was not available in the interface as such. It was also not possible to link a name and a student number without at least teacher-level rights in study information systems (Peppi, Moodle). The Study Guide study guide is maintained by the University of Turku. The deviation was detected by a member of the University community, and there is no evidence that the data were used in any way by outsiders.

Social security numbers, other personal and address data, actual study data, and Uniarts usernames and passwords have not been compromised.

The vulnerability has been fixed on 10 September 2025.
