Institutional repository Taju gets a big update on Mon 26.5.

Our institutional repository Taju is getting a big update. The software Taju runs on, DSpace, is being updated from version 5 to version 8.1. The update is extensive, and it will bring all kinds of changes. Updated Taju will be opened in the same web address https://taju.uniarts.fi on Monday May 26th. New Taju will become available for users as the update gets through the name servers in the internet. So it will be possible that on Monday someone sees already new Taju in that address, while someone else still sees the old version.
The look and feel of Taju will change quite a lot. The collection structure will remain the same, as will Taju’s functions for most parts, but functions can be found in different places than before.
A break in submitting theses to Taju
There will be some kind of break in submitting theses to Taju when new Taju appears online. It should only last for a few days at most. The links on the theses submitting guide will stop working when new Taju appears online. We will update new links in the guide when it becomes possible to submit theses in the new Taju. The break will happen because Uniarts login will not immediately work when new Taju opens, and when it begins to work, we must update usage rights before submitting is possible.
A short break in linking with permanent URN links
The permanent URN links leading to records in Taju will momentarily cease to work during the update. They start working again when the National Library’s URN server has gone through the records in new Taju. This break should not last more than a few hours.
The links to collections in Taju will break
The URN links to records in Taju will work normally after the short break, but links to collections in Taju will break. So if you have saved or published links to collections in Taju, for example to “Sheet music” or “Written theses”, you must fetch new links from the new Taju.
Taju materials in Arsca and Finna.fi
The materials in Taju will continue to be searchable in Arsca and Finna.fi, but the update may cause some delays in updates getting through to these search services.
