Greetings from the Academy Board – Sibelius Academy Academy Board 22 January 2024
The board met for the first time on Monday 22 Jan. At the meeting, the agenda included issues of doctoral education: decisions about doctoral students’ pre-examiners and evaluation boards. The meeting was preceded by a two-hour orientation of the new members of the board to work on the board – eight new representatives started on the board as members and deputy members.
During the orientation, we found out that the work of the Academy board is multifaceted – key tasks include decisions, discussions, and giving statements, mainly in matters concerning the activities of the Sibelius Academy. We, the members of the board, are the voice of the Sibelius Academy community.
The board can also take its own initiatives. This is what we immediately tackled – as a new initiative, we want to make visible the activities of the board and encourage communication between the community and the members of the board through the "Greetings of the Academy Board".
At the same time, I would also like to remind you that two more members representing the professoriate will be elected to the Academy board in the by-elections in February.
