Milla Vaisto-Oinonen appointed as Head of Student Services

Milla Vaisto-Oinonen, M.Soc.Sc. has been selected as the head of student services at the University of the Arts Helsinki. She will start in her position on 16.2.2023.

Milla Vaisto-Oinonen has long experience in various tasks related to study administration and services at Aalto University and before that at the Helsinki University of Technology. She has been responsible for Aalto University’s admissions services and the Open University, worked as head of student affairs and worked with process and change work. Currently, she works as a manager in external customer services and is responsible for the Open University and the strategic development project of Aalto University’s learning services. In addition, she chairs the National Open University Forum until the end of the year.

The head of student services of the University of the Arts Helsinki manages the university’s joint study services, which employs five experts. The supervisor of the responsible head of student services is Vice Rector for Education Marjo Kaartinen. The joint study services are responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the study administration and the legal protection of students, and act as study administration support. The field of work also includes the preparation of university-level policies, national cooperation with other universities and support for students’ well-being. The head of student services works closely with the Student Union of the University of the Arts Helsinki. 

The position of head of student services position was opened when Sanna Kotajärvi-Söderholm, who had previously held the position for a long time, moved to other position outside the University of the Arts Helsinki. A total of 25 people applied for the position.
