New academic appointments at the Sibelius Academy
New Lecturers
The Sibelius Academy has appointed the following lecturers:
Permanent positions
- Lecturer in Folk Music: Hanna Ryynänen (50%) and Heidi Henriikka Mäkelä (50%)
- Lecturer in Music Theory (Kuopio): Elina Salmi (50%)
- Lecturer in Church Music (Kuopio): Tomi Satomaa
- Lecturer in Church Music (Helsinki): Mauriz Brunell
Fixed-term positions
- Lecturer in Music Business: Pekka Saarikorpi, two-year appointment (from 1 August 2025)
- Substitute Lecturer in Expressive Arts: Juulia Tapola (1 August 2025–31 October 2029)
- Substitute for the Lead Lecturer of the 60-credit Teacher’s Pedagogical Studies module: Inga Rikandi (1 August 2025–31 December 2026)
In addition, Kimi Kärki has been granted tenure as Lecturer in Cultural Music Research.
Doctor of Music Ilona Korhonen appointed as Artistic Docent at the Sibelius Academy
The Rector of the University of the Arts Helsinki has awarded the title of Artistic Docent to Doctor of Music Ilona Korhonen. The Rector of the University of the Arts Helsinki has awarded the title of Artistic Docent to Doctor of Music Ilona Korhonen. It has also been decided to offer the appointed docents an opportunity to give a celebratory lecture or lecture-concert, titled Preludi. Further information about this will be announced separately.
