Occupational safety walk at Mylly on Wednesday Nov 6 in teaching and administration premises and galleries
The University of the Arts conducts safety walks to reduce occupational safety risks and promote a healthy and safe environment for the University.
Next up is an occupational safety walk at the Sörnäinen campus, in the Mylly sculpture and printmaking facilities and galleries. It will be held on Wednesday November 6, 2024, from 8.30-11.30
The occupational safety walk in the sculpture and printmaking teaching areas was carried out already on September 19, so this time the focus will be on other Mylly premises. Students and employees who wish to bring safety and well-being issues or observations to the assessment are asked to contact us in advance:
- employees: technician, occupational safety and health representative Heikki Wallenius, heikki.wallenius@uniarts.fi, p. 045 657 7695
- students: Jani Luoma (time and space arts), jani.luoma@uniarts.fi or Jaakko Pennanen (painting), jaakko.pennanen@uniarts.fi
Safety walk – what is it?
An essential part of occupational safety and health is the identification of hazards and risk assessment. At the Uniarts, safety walks are visits to individual premises to identify the most significant hazards requiring immediate intervention and to agree on measures to reduce the most significant risks. If separately agreed, occupational safety walks also include risk assessment as part of the workplace survey. Observations can also be used to improve fire and rescue safety.
The occupational safety walk is always attended by the occupational safety and health manager and the occupational safety representative or agent as representatives of the employer and employees. Other participants may include an occupational health nurse, a representative of students and facility services, and supervisors in the area.
