Prof. Dr. Natasha Loges returns to Sibelius Academy

After a number of inspiring visits, Prof. Natasha Loges returns to Sibelius Academy next week on an Erasmus Exchange from the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.

As well as taking part in the International Visitor Programme for Lied, and working with doctoral students and Lied duos, she will give two public talks as part of her visit. These two talks may be of particular interest to pianists, singers and anybody interested in concert culture in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Tuesday 11th February, 4.30pm, classroom R-510

Rethinking the Public Concert: Inspiration from the 19th Century

Musicians are always looking for innovative ways to present the repertoire they love in public. Looking at the practices of leading artists in the circle of Clara Schumann, this talk explores some of the inspiration we can draw from the nineteenth century for concert-making today.

Friday 14th February, 10am, classroom N-220

Global Women Pianists

In this public lecture, Natasha Loges showcases five 20th-century women pianists from around the world. These figures faced barriers not only because of their gender, but also their sexuality, race and nationality. She explores the different personal and professional choices they made, and asks what their legacy is for us today.

The talks are open to all Uniarts members, and you are warmly welcome!
