SibA Research Days 2024 is organised by MuTri Doctoral School on 14.-15.3.2024 with the theme of Society and Research in Dialogue in Black Box, Music Centre.
The theme of this year’s research days is the relationship and dialogue between art, research, and society. What types of dialogues do we create and enable by our artistic or scientific research with our audiences, colleagues, readers, or the society at large? How can we improve the dialogue and what are the challenges we face?
The programme consists of more than 30 presentations by a varied group of researchers, students and practitioners. Thursday’s programme starts with an insightful keynote by Professor Anita Seppä (Research Institute, Uniarts Helsinki) and continues with a deep look into dialogue in a panel discussion moderated by Kai AIhanen (Dialogue Academy), with participants Tuulikki Laes (Academy Research Fellow, Uniarts Helsinki), Rosa Meriläinen (Secretary General, Kulta ry), Tuire Kuusi (Professor of Music Research, Uniarts Helsinki) and Anita Seppä.
The programme continues with a selection of long and short presentations and lecture recitals presenting research from Sibelius Academy and beyond. After the day’s seminar programme, the evening continues at Viinikahvila Feeniks in the R Building (Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 9) with some Real Dialogue. Friday starts with Erkki Huovinen’s (Professor of Music Education, Royal College of Music, Stockholm) engaging keynote. The programme then continues with a selection of long and short presentations and lecture recitals, ending in a post-seminar After Dialogue at the Music Centre.
On Wednesday 13.3. there is a pre-seminar lecture by Patrick Schmidt (Professor of Music and Music education, Teachers College, Columbia University; Docent, Sibelius Academy) called “Music Professionalism and Policy Entrepreneurship” at 15:00-17:00 in S-3101, Music Centre.
The language of the seminar is English.
