Sibelius-Academy students, participate in the improvisation minor seminar

Welcome to the improvisation minor seminar! The seminar is compulsory for all the students who wants to include the improvisation minor in their study program. Moreover, the seminar is open to all the students who are interested in improvisation and wants to get information on the improvisation-related courses at the Sibelius Academy, even without enrolling to the minor program.

The wide range of improvisatory approaches already existing at the Sibelius Academy makes our institution a very interesting place for a student interested in acquiring knowledge in different improvisational styles. The improvisation minor provides a framework around a selection of the existing improvisation courses from various departments. The improvisation minor seminar is where the students can get information on the available courses and be helped in creating his/her personal path in the improvisation minor. The offer is stylistically as wide as possible, from early music to contemporary free, jazz, folk, classical, electroacoustic improvisation. Moreover, it includes courses focused on the performative side of improvisation on one hand, and on the pedagogical on the other.

If you are interested, save the date! The improvisation minor seminar will be held on Wednesday, March 20th at 15-17 at Nervanderinkatu NK-55. After the seminar you can have an individual meeting with Libero and Max to help you to choose suitable courses to your improvisation minor. Online participation by Zoom is also possible. The session ID will be sent on the same day and therefore we need all the online participants to mail Max no later than March 18th.
