Suggest ways to improve Uniarts Helsinki – you may have a chance to get paid hourly wages to develop your idea further

Do you have a suggestion on how Uniarts Helsinki could use its resources more wisely? How could we improve our day-to-day activities and learning environments or take sustainability and impact opportunities into better consideration? Send your suggestion by 19 November to get a chance to plan how to implement your idea and get paid for it by hourly rate.

Uniarts Helsinki is launching a campaign titled Measures to improve Uniarts Helsinki with the aim of collecting students’ views and experiences on how the university could use its resources – including the time and competence of students and staff, facilities, instruments, technologies and systems – more efficiently, and then implementing some of their ideas in practice. The goal of the campaign is to find ideas that will lead to more effective operations, smoother day-to-day activities and better chances to make an impact, for example.

Suggestions are requested specifically from students, who have invaluable, first-hand information on things that support or hamper learning and work, as this information can be utilised in the development of Uniarts Helsinki. The goal is to establish an operating model that gives the university better opportunities to hear and consider students’ constructive and critical views. The aim is not to just collect feedback but concrete development suggestions that will be refined into actual measures that will be taken.

Suggestions may vary from small ideas to bigger changes, but they must be feasible with the help of smarter allocation of the current resources. Out of all the suggestions, the ones that are feasible within the framework of the current resources and that lead to concrete improvements will be selected for further development. Students who made these specific suggestions are offered the chance to be paid for refining their suggestions into concrete measures in cooperation with the university’s staff and management.

How to participate

Participate in the campaign by sending your development suggestion by 19 November 2023 at 23:59. Rector Kaarlo Hildén will go through each suggestion together with the jury. Suggestions that have been selected for further development will be announced on week 48 (27 November –1 December 2023)

All those who submit a suggestion will receive written feedback and a small prize as thanks for their participation. People who came up with the ideas that are selected for further development will be offered an hourly-paid job to refine the suggestion further.

The suggestion can even be an unrefined idea, and it does not have to include information on expenses or required measures, for example. We do hope you describe your suggestion as clearly and with much concrete details as possible, though.

The open call for suggestions is for ideas that will steer Uniarts Helsinki towards better operations and smarter use of resources. The community’s suggestions may concern the below-listed themes. Suggestions can also combine multiple themes.
