The Sibelius Academy saxophone ensemble SaxibA will go on a European tour at the beginning of June

SaxibA Ensemble is on tour from June 6th to 13th. The group will perform in Paris, Puteaux, Amsterdam, and Brussels, presenting a concert program featuring music by Karol Beffa, Claude Debussy, and Jean Sibelius, as well as a commissioned work for saxophones and tape, “Ice Piece no 1: The place we go to,” by art teacher and Master of Arts Josué Moreno.

The tour’s opening concert will be held on June 3 at 7 PM in the Camerata Hall of the Music Centre.

Ensemble members Diogo Campinho Fernandes and Juho Pétas will take over the Sibelius Academy’s Instagram account during the tour, so follow @sibeliusacademy on Instagram for real-time content and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the tour life!

Founded in 2016, SaxibA Ensemble brings together saxophone students and teachers from the Sibelius Academy, with Joonatan Rautiola as the person responsible. The ensemble has performed in Croatia, Denmark, Spain, and various locations across Finland, premiering works by Antonin Servière and Josué Moreno. SaxibA rehearses and performs without a conductor, aiming for electronic interaction, shared responsibility, and the joy of playing!

A big thank you to the Sibelius Academy Foundation and Henri Selmer Paris for their significant support.
