The Student Facilities Survey highlighted the need for calm spaces and attention to sensory accessibility
The Student Facilities Survey was carried out again in April, 2025. 197 Uniarts degree students responded to the survey. Respondents gave the university facilities a rating of 3.62 on a scale of 1 to 5, indicating that many things in our facilities work well for students’ everyday lives, although there is always room for improvement.
The results of the survey were discussed in the spring in the Campus Development Groups in Sörnäinen and Töölö and in the student wellbeing group. The groups enthusiastically discussed student needs and suggestions for improving the functionality of the facilities. The most common areas for improvement that emerged from the feedback were:
- Supporting students’ independent work, ergonomy and sensory needs
- Improving availability of spaces for training, project work and calm or quiet environments
- Enhancing storage space availability on both Helsinki campuses
- Rethinking dining space in Sörnäinen and offering more snack options on both Helsinki campuses
Some measures to improve facilities can be started immediately. However, most of the work will continue in the Campus Development Groups in autumn of 2025 when more on the measures taken will be communicated.
We warmly thank all students who participated in developing our facilities by answering the survey.
