Uniarts Helsinki kicks off its vision work: join us in building our future!
By compiling a vision, the university aims to identify, define and articulate the purpose of Uniarts Helsinki’s existence. The work begins in autumn 2025 and ends in spring 2026. The entire university community is invited to participate in the work for the future.
The Uniarts Helsinki Board decided to launch the university’s vision work in June.
The current strategy, which extends to 2030, is already almost six years old, and it will expire before the next performance agreement period from 2029 to 2032 between Uniarts Helsinki and the Ministry of Education and Culture. The university needs an up-to-date strategy so that it can negotiate with the Ministry of Education and Culture on the next performance agreement. The vision work is the first step in building a new strategy.
Online survey kicks off the vision work
Why does Uniarts Helsinki exist and what does the future need from us? How do you see Uniarts Helsinki’s place among other universities? What is the role of the university as part of the arts scene? What about in a broader sense as part of society as a whole?
In the vision work, we take a pause to ask what the significance of Uniarts Helsinki is. We want to hear the views and wishes of the entire university community – staff, students and alumni – on the subject. On Monday, 27 October, we will publish an online questionnaire that will make the community’s voice heard.
Your answers will help build a shared vision that describes the university and not only preserves artistic heritage but also boldly creates a new future.
The questionnaire will be available until 14 November 2025.
Schedule for the vision work
October–November 2025
The online questionnaire will be available to Uniarts Helsinki staff and students from 27 October to 14 November 2025.
The results will be used in the vision workshops scheduled for the beginning of 2026.
January–February 2026
All university students and employees are welcome to participate in open vision workshops to reflect on Uniarts Helsinki’s vision for 2040. Invitations to the workshops will be sent closer to the dates of the events.
It is essential to be able to include students’ perspectives. We will collaborate with the Student Union to offer students the chance to participate in other ways, too.
In January and February, Uniarts Helsinki’s external stakeholders will get to be involved in the vision work through an online survey. The plan is also to arrange a few discussion events for close stakeholders and former members of the University Board.
March–April 2026
The joint work will lead to a concise formulation of the university’s vision. It will lay the foundation for strategy work, which Uniarts Helsinki’s new board is scheduled to launch in spring 2026.
