Universities withdraw from the JOO agreement – applications still possible in the academic year 2024–2025
Universities are withdrawing from their mutual agreement on flexible study rights (JOO). The reason for the resignation is a change in the operating environment: on the one hand, the JOOPAS service, which supported the use of the JOO agreement, has already been discontinued earlier, and on the other hand, the national cross-institutional study service RIPA is now available to higher education institutions, and in connection with its preparation, the higher education institutions have signed a framework agreement on teaching cooperation. Uniarts Helsinki’s first cross-institutional study agreement was signed between the Seinäjoki unit of the Sibelius Academy and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences on 21.6.2023.
JOO study rights already granted to students are valid until the end of their duration. Students may also be granted new study rights under the current JOO agreement during the academic year 2024–2025. Correspondingly, these possible new study rights are valid until the end of their duration. JOO study rights granted in the academic year 2024–2025 must expire at the end of the academic year 2025–2026 (by 31.7.2026) at the latest.
