Sibelius Academy Dean Emilie Gardberg is launching a discussion series on 3 March 2025, exploring power dynamics in the music industry from various perspectives.

The series will begin with an internal discussion at Feeniks Café (R Building, Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 9) on Monday, 3 March at 17:30. This session will focus on reporting channels and procedures related to inappropriate behavior as well as power dynamics between students and teachers. This event is intended for students.

Sandwiches, coffee and tea will be served at the event. At the end of the session, students will have the opportunity to suggest topics for future discussions.

The primary language of the discussion will be Finnish, but interpretation into English will be provided. Participants who wish to listen to the interpretation should bring their own phone and headphones.

Going forward, the discussion series will be divided into two parts: internal discussions, held with students and/or staff and a public discussion series open to all.

The discussions will be moderated by Dean Emilie Gardberg and organised in collaboration with Uniarts Helsinki Student Union. The series is part of the four-year Ääni ja oikeus (“Voice and Justice”) project, which aims to enhance diversity in music education.
