Protecting your hearing
The university places a joint order of earplugs once a year. Students can sign up for the joint order in August-September.
All first-year students are entitled to:
- standard earplugs (HiFi or “musician’s” earplugs) paid by the university
- Or personal custom-moulded earplugs for €130, when the joint university-level order is placed in September-October (the university pays €20 of the price).
Joint order of earplugs as a first-year student
The joint order for hearing protection gear is placed in September. Advance information on the order is provided in the newsfeed on the student.uniarts.fi frontpage, in Tuudo and in newsletters.
In the autumn, an event is held on both campuses, where measurements are taken and castings are made for ordering personal protective equipment.
Order of earplugs later in studies
After the first year of studies, students can purchase custom-moulded earplugs for the price of €150. The price is lower for first-year students, because due to budget reasons, the university can only sponsor the purchase of earplugs for new students.
Uniarts Helsinki’s Hearing Protection Policy
Uniarts Helsinki has compiled a Hearing Protection Policy that describes the nature of noise exposure produced as part of the university’s operations and the causes for exceeding recognised safety levels. The policy also defines methods and practical tips for reducing noise exposure and the schedule for the required measures.
