Using the Kallio-Kuninkala facilities
When you take part in curriculum-based teaching at Kallio-Kuninkala, you are responsible for covering the costs as outlined below. Please also remember to follow the shared guidelines for courses held at Kallio-Kuninkala (currently only in Finnish).
Bachelor’s, Master’s and exchange students
- Travel and accommodation costs are covered by the unit organising the teaching, and the course’s responsible teacher or planner will make the bookings.
- You are responsible for your own meal costs, which you pay on site according to price category A.
Doctoral researchers
- The course’s responsible teacher or planner will make the bookings.
- You pay for your own accommodation, travel and meals (price category B) on site.
- The accommodation bookings or meals cannot be changed afterwards.
Open university students
- You pay for your own accommodation, travel and meals (price category C).
- You indicate your meal and accommodation needs when registering for the course. The responsible teacher or planner forwards this information to Kallio-Kuninkala. The accommodation bookings or meals cannot be changed afterwards.
- You pay for the services you have pre-booked upon arrival.
Junior Academy students
- The university covers accommodation costs.
- You pay for your own travel and meals (price category B), and the university will invoice you afterwards.
- The responsible teacher or planner forwards this information to Kallio-Kuninkala. The accommodation bookings or meals cannot be changed afterwards.
Meal prices for students
Prices include VAT and are reviewed annually. The new prices take effect at the beginning of each autumn term
Price category A (Bachelor’s, Master’s and exchange students)
- Day package (breakfast + lunch): €5.95
- Evening package (dinner + evening snack): €8.00
- Lunch: €2.95
- Breakfast: €3.00
Price category B (Doctoral researchers, Sibelius Junior Academy students)
- Day package (breakfast + lunch): €13.50
- Evening package (dinner + evening snack): €11.80
- Lunch: €10.55
- Breakfast: €5.90
Price category C (Open University students; independent work by Bachelor’s, Master’s and exchange students)
- Day package (breakfast + lunch): €21.20
- Evening package (dinner + evening snack): €17.00
- Lunch: €12.90
- Breakfast: €8.30
Examples of meal cost combinations (Bachelor’s, Master’s and exchange Students)
- Arrival at 10:00, departure the following day before lunch:
Lunch + evening package + breakfast (Category A) = €13.95 per student - Arrival at 16:00, departure the following day before lunch:
Evening package + breakfast (Category A) = €11.00 per student - Weekend course from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon
(Arrival Friday at 16:00, departure Sunday after lunch):
Evening package + day package + evening package + day package (Category A) = €27.90 per student
Other catering products
- Afternoon coffee €7.10 (includes a sweet pastry)
- Cup of coffee €3.10
- Service surcharge for Ala-Kuninkala €1.60 per person
Accommodation fees for students
- Students (when paying for their own accommodation): double room €14.40/night, single room supplement €10/night.
- Others (incl. Open University students, staff): double room €30/night, single room supplement €20.50/night.
If you wish to work independently at Kallio-Kuninkala
The facilities at Kallio-Kuninkala are primarily intended for teaching and other activities of the University of the Arts Helsinki. However, students may also book the facilities at their own expense for independent work. Please check the booking process and price list on Artsi.
