University e-mail
The most important daily communication tool that the students are expected to follow.
You can communicate and receive important messages related to your courses and studies in the university email. Each student at Uniarts Helsinki has their own email address in the following format: firstname.lastname@uniarts.fi.
The best way to log in to your email is to use your browser at webmail.uniarts.fi.

Log in with your Uniarts Helsinki username in the following format: abc12345@uniarts.fi.
Email etiquette
- Nobody needs to read or reply to messages in the evenings or during the weekends.
- Email lists are intended for informing people of matters of the university and the academies, not for discussing matters collectively or for giving feedback.
- Try to arrange things so that you only send emails on weekdays. Nobody needs to read or reply to messages in the evenings or during the weekends.
- Many people’s inbox is absolutely flooded with emails, so always try to take a moment to consider who definitely needs to be informed of the matter at hand and who does not. Do not add people as recipients just in case.
- If you are replying to a message that was sent to you via an email list, it is best to send your personal questions and comments only to the sender of the original message, not to the entire email list.
- Remember to encrypt also your own messages that include personal identity codes and other messages that require encryption, if you have been given the permission to handle the matter digitally. Read how to send personal data by email.
Using email securely
- Users log in to the university’s systems with a personal user ID and password. Handle your user ID and password as carefully as your bank card and PIN number.
- Multi-factor authentication is used nowadays to protect personal identity data.
- You are personally responsible for your ID. Do not give your password to anyone else. Do not even give it to the system administrator.
- If someone asks for your password, they are undoubtedly not on official business.
- Change your password sufficiently often and immediately if someone else has accessed it. You can change your password using the change password service by Uniarts Helsinki.
- If you get a new password from IT support, change it immediately to something only you know.
- Be careful of phishing messages where you are asked to give your ID and password or write them on a website. Only use your uniarts ID for logging into the services of Uniarts Helsinki.
- If you suspect that you have been the target of a scam or an attempted scam, contact IT support services immediately.
