Invitation: Explore the intersection of art and technology at the Art Jam workshop, 9–11 October
Art Jam is a weekend-long experimental workshop where students and alumni from different artistic disciplines can explore new technologies through the lens of their own artistic practice, with no prior technical knowledge or expertise required.
What’s it about?
Art Jam is a weekend-long experimentation workshop where students and alumni from different artistic disciplines get to play with and try out new technology from the perspective of their own art form – no prior expertise or technical background required. You don’t need to bring any special technological know-how: curiosity and a willingness to experiment are enough.
Over the weekend you’ll get to explore things like motion capture, VR worlds, games, and other interactive technologies – and think about how they might serve your own art form.
The goal isn’t to produce a finished work or a result that measures skill, but to spark inspiration and creativity.
Keep it simple – let’s experiment simply and have fun!
Schedule
- Friday, Oct 9th at 5pm: joint kick-off at the lighting studio at Theatre Academy (Haapaniemenkatu 6)
- Saturday Oct 10th: spaces available for working from 6 AM to 11 PM.
- Sunday Oct 11th: joint wrap-up in the afternoon.
Who’s it for?
Art Jam is open to practitioners from all artistic disciplines, regardless of background. The event aims to attract as diverse a range of participants as possible – not just those already interested in technology.
If desired, study credits can be arranged within one’s own degree program.
Primary language during the weekend is English. Participation is free of charge.
