Suggest honorary doctors for the Uniarts Helsinki conferment ceremony 2024!
Uniarts Helsinki will organise its next conferment ceremony for masters and doctors on 16–18 August 2024.
As part of the celebration, the university will also confer honorary doctorates on persons who have outstanding merits in the arts. The title is the highest honour that the university can confer on a person. The aim is to select six honorary doctors for Uniarts Helsinki.
Who can be selected as honorary doctor?
A suitable recipient of the title of honorary doctor at Uniarts Helsinki is someone who works in accordance with our university’s values (skill, courage and openness) and who is particularly distinguished in the field of arts, has contributed to the development of arts education, promoted the role of art, or enhanced the significance of art in society. The person selected as honorary doctor cannot be in an employment relationship or student with Uniarts Helsinki at the time of the conferment ceremony.

To whom do you think the university should award honorary doctorates? Send in your suggestion along with your reasoning by 12 March 2023.
You can suggest one or several honorary doctors.
Selection of honorary doctors
The suggestions will be forwarded to the academy boards, which will convene in April to discuss the suggestions together. The Uniarts Helsinki conferment committee will make a decision on the honorary doctors based on the academy boards’ suggestions in its June meeting.
