As of Wednesday 3 April 2024, you will no longer be able to access your email unless you enable multi-factor authentication
Multi-factor authentication is now in use, which will improve the security of your user account. Starting tomorrow, Wednesday 3 April 2024, you will no longer be able to log in to email, Teams or Moodle if you do not enable multi-factor authentication.
When logging in on Wednesday, you will need to add a multi-factor authentication method if you have not done it before. If you do not add a method, you will no longer be able to log in to the systems.
What should you do?
Download the free Microsoft Authenticator app from the app store to your phone. If you can’t use the app, you can use SMS authentication.
Support points for the introduction of authentication on campuses 2.-12.4.2024
If you find it difficult to implement multi-factor authentication or encounter problems, don’t worry, the university’s IT Helpdesk will help! We will arrange two support points for the first two weeks of the commissioning, one on the Sörnäinen campus and the other on the Töölö campus. At the support point, the staff will help you with commissioning and problem situations.
You can find us at Kokos Square and in the lobby of the 3rd floor of the Helsinki Music Centre 2.–12.4. at 9.00–15.00. The fulcrum will not be there at the weekend.

Why does the university require multi-factor authentication?
Multifactor authentication significantly increases the security of user accounts, and almost all attempts to hijack user accounts can be prevented by using multi-factor authentication. Even if a criminal becomes aware of the username and password, it is not possible to log in to the service without an additional identifier.
Multifactor authentication has also been or will be introduced in other universities and higher education institutions in our country.
