SibA Research Days 2026 programme announced with Anni Pohto as the keynote speaker

The programme for SibA Research Days 2026 is now available. The event features approximately 40 presentations showcasing ongoing research. This year’s keynote speaker is artist Anni Pohto, who will share practical tools that have helped her navigate the changing music industry and the international creative economy. How can creative professionals stay connected to their inner voice and remain true to their values amid constant change?

Based in London, Anni Pohto is a singer-songwriter, pianist and producer. Alongside her artistic career, she works at the intersection of the creative economy, cultural diplomacy and security-related issues. She uses music as a tool for wellbeing, empowerment and social change. Pohto’s album The Rising was released a year ago, and a live film based on the album, filmed at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, is currently in post-production and awaiting release.

SibA Research Days will take place at the Helsinki Music Centre on 5–6 November 2026 under the theme Change and the Arts. Registration closes on 29 October 2026.

The Research Days are open to researchers, students and staff of the Sibelius Academy and the University of the Arts Helsinki, as well as researchers and arts professionals from outside the university. For the first time, the programme will also include a dedicated Master Students Forum, where students can present their research ideas, receive feedback, and discuss research with fellow students, researchers and teachers.

The event offers an opportunity to reflect on changes in artistic research and doctoral education while strengthening collaboration within the research community.
