Visiting experts lecture series in Theatre Academy: Alice Chauchat, Latai Taumoepeau & Yana Ross

In the Visiting experts lecture series, visiting artists and researchers give a lecture, discussion or performative talk open to the audience, in which they open up their own work.
As the lecture series will feature voices from outside Finland, all events will be in English.
The series, launched in autumn 2022, continues now with three experts in September-October.
11.9. Alice Chauchat: door opens, roof rises, studio dissolves into city
In ”door opens, roof rises, studio dissolves into city” Berlin-based choreographer, dancer, teacher, mentor will share her ongoing interest in scores and site as a crucial vector for dance through a practical demonstration where audience members turns into active participants.

19.9. Latai Taumoepeau
Latai Taumoepeau makes live-art-work. Her faivā (body-centred practice) is from her homelands, the Island Kingdom of Tonga and her birthplace Sydney, land of the Gadigal.
In 2022, Latai Taumoepeau won the prestigious ANTI Festival International Price for Live Art and is back in Finland with a new piece to ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival 2023.

2.10. Yana Ross: City politics, cultural policy and artistic tenures
Acclaimed theatre director Yana Ross Yana Ross is a cultural nomad — since age 5 she has been traveling through a vast variety of countries and cultures, absorbing experiences and adapting to various conditions of life and work.
This public talk will open up a broader discourse on how city politics and cultural policy often influence the outcome of artistic tenures.
