Orientation for new Praxis master students 2026: Introduction to master’s studies
Praxis master’s students in the Academy of Fine Arts start their studies during the autumn term with the study unit K-MP25110 Introduction to master’s studies I (2 cr). Orientation continues with the study unit K-MP25120 Introduction to master’s studies II (1 cr). The study units are mandatory for all new Praxis master’s students in the Academy of Fine Arts.

Content of the study unit
Introduction to master’s studies I (2 cr) consists of the following:
- An online course that you complete independently on Moodle
- Orientation Days organised on the Töölö campus for all new students of Uniarts Helsinki on 17 August and 14 September 2026
- Academy of Fine Arts orientation day on 18 August 2026
Introduction to master’s studies II (1 cr) consists of the following:
- Participation in the organising of orientation programme for new MFA students on 11 January 2027, as part of the study unit “Introduction to Master of Fine Arts studies” for students who are starting their MFA studies in January.
The student becomes acquainted with the studies included in the master’s degree programme, study practices, study guides, facilities and faculty, social benefits and other current information pertaining to the studies. The study unit also serves as an introduction to the joint activities and courses within the University of the Arts Helsinki.
During this study unit, the student will draw up their personal study plan (PSP).
Learning outcomes of the study unit
The student gains information about the study practices in the Academy of Fine Arts, which will support their personal study skills. The student is familiar with the electronic systems that are in use at the University of the Arts Helsinki and knows how to search for information.
Study unit’s Moodle platform
The online course content presents topics from the Students’ uniarts website that are important to you especially at the beginning of your studies. You can access Moodle from 1 August onwards.
