Electronic identification now available for international students

Uniarts Helsinki has introduced a new remote electronic identification method for international students who are not able to use Suomi.fi identification. The service is now live in production and enables the secure, self-service activation of user IDs regardless of time and location.

The new identification solution is intended especially for students who do not have Finnish electronic means of identification. It allows user IDs to be activated independently, also before arriving in Finland. The solution streamlines the start of studies, reduces manual work in Uniarts Helsinki’s Academic Affairs and Digital Services, and improves information security.

What does the new service enable?

  • international students can identify themselves electronically and activate their user IDs also from abroad
  • user ID activation takes place as a self-service process without separate manual steps
  • the activation process and related instructions are consistent across international students, making the process clearer for students and easier to support

Who is the service intended for?

The service is intended for international students who cannot use Suomi.fi identification and who need a Uniarts Helsinki user ID for starting their studies, including before arriving in Finland.

Instructions and support Instructions for students are available on Students’ uniarts
