Programme of the 2024 Conferment ceremony was discussed on campuses on 8 February 2023

Uniarts Helsinki masters’ and doctors’ conferment ceremony will take place on 16-18 August 2024.
On 8 February 2023, the committee preparing the conferment ceremony organised open events on both campuses.

The organisation of the conferment ceremony, the programme of the conferment weekend and related issues were on the discussion agenda. Those included the start of the celebratory week, the procession, the university flag, attire, swords, wreaths and rings, and the presence of the different art fields in the celebrations.

Uniarts Helsinki community members are welcome to be in contact with the conferment committee and the working group members (mentioned below) with questions and ideas related to the upcoming celebrations.

Programme of the 2024 Conferment Ceremony Weekend

Friday, 16 August 2024

  • Conferment Ceremony rehearsal (honourary doctorates, promovendi, staff and artistic programme)
  • Conferment Gala at 18:00 in the Musiikkitalo Concert Hall (opened for ticket sale as part of Uniarts Fest)

Saturday, 17 August 2024

  • Conferment Ceremony at 10:00 in the Musiikkitalo Concert Hall
  • Departure of the procession at 13:30
  • Art programme at Kansalaistori and along the procession (Uniarts Fest)
  • Church service at 14:00 in Temppeliaukio Church
  • Laurel celebration (alternative event to the Church service) at 14:00 in Taidehalli
  • Conferment dinner at 19:00 (place open)

Conferment ceremony committee

The committee is responsible for organising the ceremony within the budget assigned by the rector. The committee makes a proposal for honourary doctorates to the rector based on the presentations of the academies and takes care of the ceremony’s internal and external communication. The committee is organised in an expedient manner and can establish different working groups.

Artistic working group

The working group is responsible for the artistic content of the ceremony. Part of the artistic content will be opened to the public as Uniarts Fest.
