News

IN.TUNE – Innovative Universities in Music & Arts in Europe is a European alliance of eight prestigious universities specialising in music and the arts. Through IN.TUNE, the University of the Arts Helsinki can offer international events, study modules and funding opportunities for both staff and students. We compile current opportunities offered to students and staff within the University of the Arts Helsinki’s IN.TUNE alliance in our internal news feed approximately once a month.

  • The highly popular Lifelong Healthy Musician online course opened up new perspectives on musicians’ physical and psychological wellbeing. Our lecturers Päivi Arjas and Erja Joukamo-Ampuja were among the speakers for a record‑breaking audience. Read the article on our website.
  • On 16 May, audiences will experience some truly “musical gifts”! The week‑long pilot course Electroacoustic Performance Practices, hosted by the University of the Arts Helsinki, brings together participants from five European music institutions. During the course, students will create new works based on the “musical gifts” they receive, culminating in a public concert of electroacoustic works on 16 May 2026 at 6 p.m. in the Black Box.   • The IN.TUNE network will gather for its annual SUMMIT meeting in Vienna in May 2026. More than 20 representatives from the University of the Arts Helsinki will travel to meet colleagues from other member universities. Follow our social media channels for the latest updates.

Current opportunities for students

  • Now open: Socially Engaged Musicking study module! Socially Engaged Musicking is a programme operating at the intersection of music and society. It explores music‑making as a communal and participatory activity and develops new performance formats beyond traditional concert settings. The programme begins with online training in October 2026 and culminates in an on‑site intensive period in Vienna in November 2026. Participation earns 4 ECTS credits.
