Credits for positions of trust in an administrative body or organisation

Degree students of Uniarts Helsinki have the possibility to apply for credits for holding a position of trust in the university’s administrative bodies or organisations.

Awarding credits for holding a position of trust promotes recognition and validation of prior learning (AHOT procedure). It also gives acknowledgment to the skills that students gain through holding positions of trust, for example career skills, and demonstrates active and responsible participation in promoting issues of common interest and developing the learning environment and the university community.

Serving in positions of trust is time-consuming, which is why awarding credits for these activities is important, for example in terms of student financial aid. Awarding credits is also an incentive for the students to be active participants in the university community’s decision-making and development of the learning environment.

How are credits included in degrees?

The credits will be listed as optional studies as part of your degree, or alternatively, the credits may substitute compulsory courses in accordance with the degree requirements. You will agree on the matter in your personal study plan discussion.

How many credits can be awarded for positions of trust?

A student at Uniarts Helsinki may be granted a maximum of 6 credits for serving in positions of trust. Being paid a meeting attendance fee or other remuneration for holding a position of trust (e.g. as a member of an administrative body) does not stand in the way of awarding credits for the work.
